Unai Emery was ‘disrespected’ at Arsenal, as he continues to prove his aptitude at Aston Villa according to Rio Ferdinand.
After the Villans’ thrilling comeback victory over their London rivals on Sunday, they have surpassed Tottenham Hotspur into the top four in a dramatic turn of events at the top of the table.
Under Emery, Aston Villa are on the rise having won nine of their first 13 games.
This comes after Emery led Villa through a relegation battle in October of last season and into the Europa Conference League in May.
Although there is no denying the Spaniard’s revolutionary impact at Villa Park, his debut season in the English premier league was not exactly a resounding success.
In 2018, Emery was tasked with the difficult responsibility of succeeding longtime Gunners manager Arsene Wenger.
His tenure at the Emirates became more and more noxious, and after 18 months in charge, Arsenal chose to fire him.

“Arsenal disrespected his whole thing.”
After the victory at Spurs, Emery – winner of four Europa League trophies under his belt – attempted to control the expectations of an ardent fan base.
The 52-year-old said: “Of course we can get confidence when we are winning matches like here at Tottenham, but still in my mind, it is 38 matches that we have to be consistent.”
“We have to try to get each opportunity with three points and try to get a good position in the table.”
“We are in (the top four) now, but we are not a contender. There are seven contenders more than us to be in the top seven, to be in the top four but while we are there, we are going to try to keep (there).”
Arsenal are currently top of the Premier League though and the Gunners have shown some resilience this season, with many suggesting they are now mature than they were last term. Arteta’s men will next take on Lens in the Champions League before a home fixture against Wolves at the weekend.
